Due to the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan we are beginning to experience shortages of some cartridge supplies.  While these products may not be manufactured in Japan, some components used in their manufacture do come from Japan.  Some factories in Japan have been destroyed and others have experienced only minor damage or may reside within the radiation restricted area.  Estimates run from weeks to years until they will be back in operation.  In the meantime shortages of some components are starting to appear.  For instance, a shortage of empty OEM (original) cartridges will lead to a corresponding shortage of empties for remanufacturing and already empties pricing is starting to creep up.  Very little of what we sell actually comes from Japan as about half of our cartridges are 100% new and not manufactured in Japan.  Even if there is some increased demand because of OEM cartridge shortages, our industry is able to handle the higher demand and we project no price increases even as the OEM’s are increasing their prices.  We suggest that at least for the near term that you keep a spare set of the cartridges that you use the most.  This is a good practice regardless and will help you avoid that last minute trip to the store to replace a cartridge that you just ran out of.

As was mentioned above, about half of our products are 100% new, made by another manufacturer at a substantial discount.  The other half come from Factory Remanufactured OEM cartridges that are obtained from cartridge recyclers.  Please make sure that you recycle all of your empty cartridges at an approved ink and toner recycling center.  DO NOT take your empties to the office supply stores or bottle and can recyclers or they will end up crushed or dumped in a “Third World Country” where they pollute the environment and not recycled for remanufacture.  Unfortunately, the majority of empty ink and toner cartridges are still thrown away in the trash where they end up in a landfill where they continue to pollute the environment for the next 500-1,000 years.  Many schools and churches operate recycling programs and Ink & Toner Outlet is the Official Ink and Toner Recycler for the City of Upland.  Feel free to drop off your empties anytime.  If we’re not open just leave them by the front door. 

That may seem like I am over simplifying things, but it is proven fact that it is easier to keep an existing customer than to go find another, yet many companies are so indifferent to their customers that they would rather find a new customer than help an existing customer with what is frequently a minor problem.

This  bit of wisdom came to me when I was very new in business and it is something that I have never forgotten.  The best part about solving a customer’s problem is that it creates a lasting relationship.

Beginning August 6th and the first Saturday of each month thereafter until further notice we will be giving away a printer or other substantial gift.  On December 10, 2011 we will hold a drawing for a fabulous 47” Vizio Flatscreen HD TV.  Thereafter we will resume monthly drawings for a printer or other substantial gift, and then on the first Saturday of June, 2012 we will award another Flatscreen TV.  The rules for the drawings will be posted on our website, www.inkandtoneroutlet.us prior to the first drawing in August.  No purchase is necessary, however all winners must have a valid email address and must agree to receive email from Ink & Toner Outlet.  Participants will be able to enter again each time they make a purchase at Ink & Toner Outlet and at our option we may award multiple additional entries depending on the amount or timing of the purchases.
